Meeting between Defence Minister Angel Tîlvăr and Pawel Soloch, the Ambassador of Poland to Bucharest
Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, had a working meeting with Paweł Soloch, the Ambassador of Poland to Romania, on Wednesday, November 20th, at the Ministry of National Defence headquarters.
The talks between the two officials focused on the upcoming Bucharest 9 Defence Ministers' Meeting, which will take place on November 26th, in Warsaw. The Minister of National Defence reiterated the importance of this format for a constant coordination on the most important regional security issues.
“Considering the dynamics of the security situation, as well as the complexity of the growing hybrid actions, originating directly or through intermediaries from the Russian Federation, the discussions within the Bucharest 9 Initiative are becoming more and more relevant for the coordination of the states on the Eastern Flank", minister Tîlvăr stated.
In this context, the officials emphasized the need to implement the decisions made within NATO as quickly as possible was, especially those regarding the strengthening of the defence and deterrence posture and the Allied Forward Defence, as well as the joint initiatives and projects developed under the aegis of the EU.
With reference to the security situation in the Black Sea region, the Minister of National Defence reiterated that the support for Ukraine must continue and it is necessary to identify some forms of coordinated response at allied level in the situations generated by the unauthorized penetration of the Russian Federation's drones into NATO's airspace.
During the meeting, the very good level of bilateral relations between the two states was appreciated, considering the areas of common interest and the activities conducted over the past few years, including the constant support provided to Ukraine by the two states.
