Defence Minister’s meeting with the Airbus representatives

Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, and Minister Ștefan-Radu Oprea met on Thursday, November 21st, at the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism headquarters, with a delegation of the Airbus Company.

The main topic of discussions was the status and prospects of the increase of  industrial cooperation between the Romanian economic representatives with the French company, a special attention being paid to the aeronautical field.

Minister Tîlvăr expressed the full openness of the military institution to the complete involvement of state-owned and private economic agents acting in the defence sector in our country in the process of industrial cooperation and technology transfer related to the procurement programs intended to equip the Romanian Armed Forces with state-of-the-art technology.

"By constantly allocating at least 2% of GDP, since 2017 - the percentage being raised this year to 2.5% - the Government of Romania has enabled the Armed Force to design and run the most extensive equipping modernization process in its history. At the same time, a stable and predictable framework was created for the preparation of major procurement programs in accordance with our national interests. These include the maximum possible capitalization, by the Romanian defence industry ,of the opportunities that can ensure the secure manufacturing of an important part on the national territory - especially in the current regional and global security context - as well as the preservation and creation of new jobs in this strategic area of ​​our economy", Angel Tîlvăr said.
