Defence Minister’s meeting with the Minister of State for Defence of the United Arab Emirates
Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, had a meeting with the Minister of State for Defence of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Bin Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, on Wednesday, February 19th, in Abu Dhabi.
The talks focused on the prospects of the security situation in the regions of strategic interest for the two states, as well as on ways to enhance bilateral defence cooperation.
Minister Angel Tîlvăr reiterated Romania's commitment to developing relations with the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing the importance of organizing the Mixed Committee on Military Cooperation as soon as possible, as an essential platform for dialogue and coordination between the two parties in the field of defence and security.
At the same time, the Romanian official emphasized our country's openness to strengthening the partnership with the United Arab Emirates, especially in the field of the armed forces’ modernization and defence industry development. In this sense, the minister visited the stand of the Emirati Company EDGE, within the IDEX & NAVDEX 2025 International Conference, a company that is a global leader in advanced technology, developing innovative solutions for defence and security. The talks with the EDGE representatives aimed at identifying concrete opportunities for collaboration between the Romanian defence industry and the military technology sector in the United Arab Emirates, depending on the Romanian Armed Forces’ procurement needs.
Also, our country’s delegation visited the IRIDIUM company stand, with its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, specialized in providing Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and Data Management solutions.
Economic cooperation between Romania and the United Arab Emirates continues to be an area with significant development potential. Over the recent years, the United Arab Emirates ranked as Romania's second trading partner in the Gulf area and fifth in the Middle East and North Africa.
