DVDay of “DACIA 25” Exercise

"DACIA 25" Exercise sequence open to the press will be conducted on Wednesday, February 26, starting 10:00 a.m., in the Smârdan Firing Range, Galați County.

Journalists interested in attending the activity are requested to send their identification data (name, surname, series and number of the identity card, phone number, media institution) by Tuesday, February 25, at 2 p.m., to e-mail address: presamapn@mapn.ro.

Journalists will be expected on Wednesday, February 26, between 09:45 and 10:15, at the entrance to the Smârdan Firing Range. Access will be made based on identity cards and press badges. For live broadcasts, journalists are requested to use portable means, as DSNG access is not possible.

Romania organizes and conducts, through the Joint Forces Command, the DACIA 25 Exercise, a major operational and tactical level training event, intended to provide the necessary framework for the integration of national and allied forces by connecting with other multinational exercises planned by the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) and the US European Command (USEUCOM).

Several connected exercises are integrated within DACIA 25:

1. STEADFAST DART 25 – planned by SHAPE and conducted in February;


2. SEA SHIELD 25 – planned and conducted by the Naval Forces Staff; will be conducted over  April-May 2025;


3. VALIANT STRIKE 25 – planned and conducted by the Special Operations Forces Command, conducted throughout the same period;


4. SABER GUARDIAN 25 – planned by USEUCOM, together with the Defence Staff; will be conducetd in 2025. 

About 5,000 troops from France, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Romania, Spain and Turkiye participate in DACIA 25, the exercises taking place in several training areas in the country; most of the forces will be concentrated in the Smârdan and Cincu Firing Ranges. The first stage of field training takes place between February 22 and 27, 2025.

Romania is represented in this exercise by soldiers of the 15th Mechanized Brigade, while the Romanian Air Force provides air support with IAR-99 ȘOIM, IAR-330 Puma, IAR-330 Puma SOCAT, C-27J Spartan and F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, according to needs and availability.

DACIA 25 demonstrates Romania's commitment to international defence cooperation and increasing interoperability with allied forces.
