Minister of National Defence, at EDA Steering Committee Meeting
The discussions aimed at adapting the Agency's role to the context of the security environment on the continent, at a time when EDA can make a considerable contribution to eliminating European capability deficits through: systematic aggregation of demand and harmonization of requirements, including by facilitating the development of joint procurement at European level.
In these circumstances, the defence ministers of the member states discussed the Agency's future agenda and agreed on a common vision regarding the contribution of the European Defence Agency to the implementation of the European Council conclusions, including the priority guidelines of the White Paper on European Defence - Preparedness 2030 in terms of eliminating military capability deficits.
In the current complex geostrategic context, the importance of the European Defence Agency was emphasized, its role in providing the necessary means to facilitate cooperation among Member States in the field of defence at European level being highlighted by the officials. At the same time, the support for strengthening EDA's position in the European security architecture, in order to achieve the common objectives established at European Union level, was also spotlighted during the meeting.
At the same time, Minister of National Defence congratulated André Erich Denk on taking over EDA’s Chief Executive position, following the completion of Mr. Jiří Šedivý’s mandate, on April 30, 2025.
