Minister Angel Tîlvăr’s meeting with the Deputy Defence Minister of the Republic of Türkiye, Şuay Alpay

On Friday, May 23, Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, had a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister of Defence of Türkiye, Şuay Alpay, who was in Romania to participate in the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum 2025.

 

The talks focused on current topics regarding the security situation in the Black Sea region, as well as on the defence cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Türkiye.

The two officials reviewed the recent developments generated by the conflict in Ukraine and its impact on regional security. In this context, they emphasized the very good results generated by the close cooperation between the three allied Black Sea littoral states – Romania, Türkiye and Bulgaria – within the Mine Countermeasures Black Sea Task Force.

The solid technical-military cooperation between Romania and Türkiye was also highlighted, with emphasis on the essential contribution of the Turkish defence industry to the modernization process of the Romanian Armed Forces’ capabilities.

 

In conclusion, Minister Angel Tîlvăr appreciated the dynamism and scope of the political-military dialogue between the two states.
