On Thursday, February 26, the MoND radars signalled the presence of a drone in the vicinity of the border with Ukraine, following a new air strike launched by the Russian Federation on the Ukrainian ports on the Danube.
Thus, at around 4:25 p.m., two F-16 aircraft deployed at Feteşti Air Base were scrambled, in accordance with the air policing procedures.
The population in the northern area of Tulcea County received a RO-Alert message, issued by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, following the notification sent by the Air Force Staff.
The unmanned aerial vehicle did not enter the national airspace, the alert measures ending around 5:30 p.m.
At 6:00 p.m., two Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft were scrambled - a German Air Force one and a Spanish Air Force one - stationed at the 57th Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, following the observation of a new unmanned aerial vehicle heading towards the national airspace.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations sent a new RO-Alert message to the population in the north-east of Tulcea County.
The unmanned aircraft briefly entered the national airspace and left it around 6:30 p.m., north of Sulina.
At the time the press release was issued, the situation was being monitored by the Ministry of National Defence.
