This was one of the largest training activity organized by the Turkish Armed Forces, with the participation of nearly 10,400 troops from 50 Allied and partner states. The exercise took place mainly in the Doğanbey Training Range, in Izmir Province, and included complex sequences of joint training, amphibious and airborne operations, as well as live firings.
Thus, soldiers of the Romanian Land Forces, Special Operations Forces, Romanian Naval Forces and the Cyber Defence Command trained together with servicemen from allied and partner states, contributing to strengthening the joint action capacity and the exchange of experience in a complex operational environment.
On May 20th and 21st, Romania was represented at the activities dedicated to the Distinguished Visitors Day by a delegation led by Lieutenant General Dragoș-Dumitru Iacob, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, who took part in tactical exercises and meetings with representatives of the participating states and the Turkish Armed Forces’ leadership.

The main goal of Multinational Exercise EFES 2026 was to increase the interoperability level among the participating forces, improve the procedures for planning and conducting joint and multinational operations, as well as to train the participating structures in complex tactical scenarios, close to real battlefield conditions. The exercise also provided the opportunity to test and integrate modern combat technologies and systems, including unmanned systems.
The tactical scenario involved the planning and execution of an amphibious and airborne landing operation, neutralizing coastal defence, providing naval, air and land support, as well as conducting covert or overt military missions in hostile territory.
