Romania hosts the largest annual meeting of military reservists from NATO member states and partners
The largest annual meeting of military reservists from NATO member and partner states - the Joint Congress of the Inter-Allied Confederation of Reserve Officers, the Inter-Allied Confederation of Reserve Military Physician Officers and the Inter-Allied Confederation of Reserve Non-Commissioned Officers - will take place over 2 - 8 August, in Bucharest, under the High Patronage of the President of Romania.
The event, which will be attended by over 500 military reservists from 29 states, is organized by the Romanian Association of Reserve Officers and the National "Alexandru Ioan CUZA" Association of Reserve and Retired Military Cadres, in partnership with the Ministry of National Defence.
During the meeting, in addition to the specialized discussions, which will be organized within the three confederations, there will also be workshops for young reserve officers - general MOS-es and for military physicians, as well as a civil-military exercise - CIMEX-26. Also, a symposium on regional and global security topics will be organized, on the topic "Winning the war of narratives", and a complex applied-military sports competition, MILCOMP 2026.
Organizing this type of meeting in Romania represents, equally, a recognition of the role of our country in the large context of collective defence, as well as the concern of the organizing associations.
At the same time, the set of activities places Romania in a favorable position on the map of European concerns regarding the consolidation of reserve forces, their role and place in a field that has been sharply brought back to the attention of national political and military decision-makers and on both sides of the Atlantic, in the context of the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine and the deterioration of the global security environment.
Media representatives will have access to the following activities:
- the official opening ceremony of the congress, Monday, August 3rd, the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, in Carol I Park, from 6:00 p.m.;
- the international symposium on security and defence topics "Wining the war of narrative", Wednesday, August 5th, from 8:45 a.m., Palace of the Parliament, C.A. Rosetti Hall (entrance S.2).
Point of contract for additional details and accreditation: commander (ret) Claudiu Baciu, tel. 0726.101.582.

The Inter-Allied Confederation of Reserve Officers, founded in 1948 by the reserve officer associations of Belgium, France and the Netherlands, is the largest military reservist organization in the world, representing the interests of over 1.3 million reservists from 34 NATO member and partner nations. The organization operates as a NATO-affiliated, non-political and non-profit umbrella organization, and advises the NATO Military Committee on reserve issues and supports the professional further - development of reserve officers.
The Inter-Allied Confederation of Physician Officers, also founded in 1948, brings together medical personnel from the military reserve of NATO member states and collaborates with the Committee of the Chiefs of Military Medical Services in NATO (COMEDS).
The Inter-Allied Confederation of Reserve Non-Commissioned Officers is the partner organization dedicated to reserve non-commissioned officers, with a biennial rotating presidency among member nations; it admits both NATO and non-Alliance countries as members.
The three confederations collaborate closely, and usually organize joint meetings – such as the Congress hosted by Bucharest this year – to exchange best practices and harmonize their programs.
