The 2nd Infantry Battalion “Calugareni” - mission accomplished

A ceremony dedicated to the return in the country of the Combat Colors of the 2nd Infantry Battalion “Calugareni” will occur Tuesday, January 23, at 11a.m. on Otopeni airport.


The transfer of authority of subordination of the 812th Infantry Battalion “Soimii Carpatilor” to the Regional Command, South occurred Friday, January 19 in Qalat military base, Zabul province, Afghanistan; they received their missions in this province from the 2nd Infantry Battalion “Calugareni”.

Members of commission of the 2nd Operational Joint Command and representatives of the Regional Command South participated in this ceremony.
The military of the 2nd Infantry Battalion “Calugareni” participated for six months in ISAF IX operation in Afghanistan in more than 1,350 missions of patrol, escort, guard and security of the area of deployment, humanitarian actions and mission with medical focus. They also had interventions for the support of the national Afghani forces of security, armed forces and police and for the maintenance of an environment of security and stability in Zabul province.

The Romanian military were decorated with NATO-ISAF Medal for peace supporting operations and freedom and four of them received the national Medals ”Virtutea Militara” and “Barbatie si Credinta” with signs of war.
