Joint training missions of the Romanian and American soldiers, at 86th Air Base, Borcea

A United States Air Force Europe detachment (USAFE), made up of approximately 150 soldiers and eight F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, will conduct joint training missions for two weeks with the Romanian Air Force soldiers and its F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft.

The USA aircraft will also conduct, over this period, Enhanced Air Policing Missions together with the Romanian aircraft and Italian Air Force detachment ones, who have been stationed in Romania since December, last year.

The main goal of the joint training missions is to increase interoperability among NATO allies, while the joint Enhanced Air Policing Missions contribute to the enhancement of the reaction and deterrence capacity.

The US aircraft arrived today, 11th February, in 86th ‘Locotenent aviator Gheorghe Mociornițã” Air Base, Borcea, where 50 more soldiers and four F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft of the United States Naval Forces Europe are stationed over 8th – 17th February.
