Defence Minister at the commemoration ceremony of the Romanian heroes buried in £ambinowice Cemetery
On Monday, September 5th, Minister of National Defence, Vasile Dîncu, participated in the military and religious wreath laying ceremony organized at National Memorial from £ambinowice, as a sign of gratitude for the Romanian heroes’ sacrifice who had fallen on duty during World War I.
The activity took place in the context of the official visit the defence minister pays to Poland.
“The Romanian-Polish cooperation in the field of war heroes’ commemoration and the conditioning of the war graves and war commemorative works is exemplary and I would like to thank you, Minister B³aszczak, for the permanent support Poland’s Ministry of National Defence offered in order to achieve this commemorative project and all initiatives conducted over the last years”, Vasile Dîncu stated.
The Romanian official recognized the fact that “the restauration project of the Plot where the Romania heroes are buried was initiated after having signed the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Poland on war graves in 2018, at Warsaw, paper which provided the legal framework for conditioning, maintenance and protection of the burial places and heroes’ monuments existing in the two countries during I and II World Wars.”
The defence minister reminded that, according to the data provided by the National Office for the Heroes’ Cult, there are 20 burial places on the territory of the Republic of Poland, where over 7,200 Romanian soldiers who died during I World War spend their eternal sleep, and the Horo Plot dedicated to the Romanian heroes at £ambinowice represents the necropolis which hosts the biggest number of Romanian dead soldiers on Polish territory, this cemetery hosting alone over 2,600 of these heroes.
Also, minister Dîncu specified that in September 2019, the Ministry of National Defence, through its specialized structures, organized the camp dedicated to the conditioning of the Romanian heroes’ graves who lost their lives during I Word War and were buried at the War Prisoners’ Cemetery from £ambinowice, Opole region, and that the conditioning works were put together by the Romanian soldiers of the NATO Battle Group Forward Presence deployed to Bemovo Piskie, the military personnel assigned within the Romanian military higher education institutions and personnel of the National Office for the Heroes’ Cult.
“I am convinced that, in the future, the Romanian-Polish collaboration will continue on the same coordinates and we’ll succeed in running other projects between the two states’ armed forces, by means of a continuous dialogue", the Romanian defence minister concluded at the end of the ceremony held at £ambinowice.
