Certification ceremony of the Italian and Spanish Air Forces’ detachments

The certification ceremony of the Italian and Spanish Air Forces’ detachments deployed to Romania in order to conduct enhanced Air Policing Missions will take place on Friday, 9 December, starting 11.00, at 86th Air Base “Locotenent Aviator Gheorghe Mociorniþã” Borcea.


The activity will be attended by representatives of the MoND leadership, Combined Air Operations Center Torrejon leadership, Italian and Spanish defence ministries as well as of the diplomatic representations of the two countries in Bucharest.

The Italian and Portuguese detachments deployed to Romania, operating Eurofighter and F-18 aircraft, will conduct, together with the Romanian Air Forces’ personnel, NATO-led enhanced Air Policing Missions and enhanced Vigilance Activities for the following four months.

The joint Air Policing Missions contribute to the increase of the reaction and deterrence capacity as well as to the consolidation of the interoperability between the Italian, Spanish and Romanian Air Forces.
