The Chief of Defence Staff visits Georgia

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Daniel Petrescu, pays a visit to Georgia, over 12-14 December at the invitation of his counterpart, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili.


The two chiefs of defence staffs will approach topics related to the security situation at the Black Sea and the increase of military cooperation, especially in the field of joint training.


The bilateral cooperation between the Romanian and Georgian Armed Forces materialized, over time, in the participation in multinational exercises, academic and post-academic further development programs, collaboration programs within the Integrated Multinational Logistic Unit (IEL-MLU) as well as in support programs for the commitments made within the North-Atlantic Organization and the European Union.
Romania remains an important troop contributor to the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia, in the context of the EU peace-keeping missions and operations.
