“DACIAN SPRING 2023” Exercise

Almost 500 Romanian, American, French and Italian soldiers participated in DACIAN SPRING 2023 – “DASP23” Exercise which was conducted over 8-12 May, in the Romanian Land Forces’ units from Medgidia, in Constanța County and Smârdan, Galați County.

The soldiers participating in the exercise are part of the HQ Multinational Division South-East /HQ MND-SE, HQ Multinational Brigade South-East /HQ MN BDE-SE, Rapid Rection Brigade from France, 1st (US) Brigade Combat Team, Romania NATO Battle Group (France as Framework Nation) / ROU BG (FRA FN) and Bulgaria NATO Battle Group (Italy as Framework Nation / BGR BG (ITA FN).

The goal of “DACIAN SPRING 2023” Exercise is to validate the rapid deployment in real time of the French Brigade Command Post in the South-Eastern area of operations and the integration of the Allied forces that are under the command and control of the HQ MND-SE, by testing the NATO and national procedures.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Daniel Petrescu, appreciated that the results of the exercise confirmed the increased reaction capacity of the NATO Battle Groups from Romania and Bulgaria and the capacity of the HQ Multinational Division South-East of conducting a defensive action in its area of operations. “It was a team effort which led to a success”, General Petrescu stated.

“The exercise is an opportunity for all participating structures to test their interoperability level, and the experience accumulated will decisively contribute to the planning and execution of the upcoming activities”, stated Major General Dorin Toma, the HQ MND-SE Commander.
