THE MISSION OF THE ITALIAN AIR FORCE IN ROMANIA HAS CONCLUDED

The ceremony dedicated to the end of the mission of the Italian Air Force deployed to Romania in order to carry out enhanced Air Policing Missions, will take place on Thursday, August 3rd, starting 12.00, at the 57th "Mihail Kogãlniceanu" Air Base.

The activity will also be attended by representatives of the Romanian and Italian Defence Ministries, as well as of the Italian Embassy to Bucharest.

The Italian detachment, made up of approximately 150 soldiers (pilots and technical staff) and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, together with soldiers of the Romanian Air Force, conducted NATO-led enhanced Air Policing Missions.

This is the third rotation of the Italian Air Force at Mihail Kogãlniceanu, after those carried out in 2019 and 2021 and the present one, which lasted between December 1st, 2022 and July 31st, 2023.

The joint Air Policing Missions have contributed to increasing the reaction and deterrence capacity, as well as the interoperability between the Romanian and Italian Air Forces.
