The Ministry of National Defence firmly condemns the new series of attacks conducted last night by the Russian Federation against the Ukrainian sites and civilian infrastructure elements located in the Ukrainian Danube Ports. These attacks are unjustified and severely breaking all international humanitarian rules.

The MoND responsible structures monitored, in real time, through the responsible structures, the air space situation from the proximity of Romania, throughout the Russian attacks. From the information collected by the electronic surveillance devices and the other means of monitorization, the attacks conducted by the Russian Federation’s forces did not pose any direct military threats against our national territory or Romania’s territorial waters.

In accordance with the procedures established for such situations at the MoND level, reconnaissance teams have been designated to operate in the field, including on the Danube, for further verifications.

The Ministry of National Defence continues to implement the enhanced vigilance measures in the ground, maritime and air space, as well as the measures designated to consolidate the defence and deterrence posture on the eastern flank, in accordance with the national and Allied plans.
