Additional flight restrictions in the airspace neighboring the border with Ukraine
Starting Wednesday, September 13, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure alongside the Ministry of National Defence, as responsible structures for the management of the national airspace, imposed additional flight restrictions in the airspace neighboring the border with Ukraine, in the Northern area of Dobrogea, between Sulina and Galați, on a 20-30 km depth inside the national airspace, up to a height of 4,000 m.
The notification regarding the augmentation of flight restrictions - NOTAM type (Notice to Airmen) was sent through the official communication channels by the competent civilian and military aeronautical authorities.
No manned or unmanned air vehicle are allowed to fly in these restricted areas, except for state aircraft (including the SMURD and aircraft facing emergency situations).
Flight restrictions in the airspace neighboring the entire border with Ukraine have been imposed since May 2022, after the start of the war of aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, at a depth of 8 km inside the national airspace, up to a height of 1,000 m.
Against the background of the increase of the Russian attacks on the Ukrainian ports at the Danube, necessary measures were taken to augment the restrictions in order to ensure a more efficient monitorization and control of the airspace.
We mention that the flight of civilian aircraft in the airfield control area of Tulcea Airport is not affected.
