The Romanian Air Forces began airlifting humanitarian aid to Libya
A C-130 Romanian Air Force Hercules aircraft took off on Saturday, September 16, from the 90 "Comandor aviator Gheorghe Bănciulescu" Airlift Base, for Benghazi, Libya, to airlift the first free of charge tranche of international assistance that Romania will provide to this country affected by catastrophic floods.
The Romanian Air Force has planned to conduct six round-flights on this route in order to airlift 55 tons of goods, consisting in food and shelter items.
The flights are executed through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, at the request of the Department for Emergency Situations, based on the Decision no. 32, 2023, issued by the National Committee for Emergency Situations.
