Opening Ceremony of Ramstein Legacy 24 Exercise
Ramstein Legacy 24 Exercise (RALY24) in the field of Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) began on Tuesday, June 4th, at Capu Midia Air Defence Training School.
In our country, the exercise will be conducted between June 3rd-14th and will engage 1,300 soldiers from Romania and nine allied states (The Czech Republic, France, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey, Hungary), that will operate PATRIOT and HAWK missile systems, respectively Romanian F-16, IAR-330, IAR-99, YAK-52 aircraft and other ground-based air defence equipment, command and control systems, as well as the military aircraft of the participating nations.
RALY24 contributes to the increase of interoperability between IAMD detachments, by practicing allied tactics, techniques and procedures within a defensive operation.
A national objective of the exercise is rendering the second PATRIOT system operational, which, by executing live firing exercises in the Capu Midia Firing Range, will be certified "mission capable".
The deployment of structures to the Romanian training facilities takes place between June 3 and 9, while the non-firing/firing tactical training is scheduled over June 10-14. The redeployment of detachments to their peace-time facilities will take place between June 14 and 16.
The journalists will have the opportunity to attend one of the RALY24 sequences conducted in from the Capu Midia Firing Range at a date that will be communicated in due course.

Ramstein Legacy 24, led by the Allied Air Command (AIRCOM), is conducted in Romania and Bulgaria and aims at training a multinational IAMD structure during a territory and population defence operation by testing the command and control system, airborne early warning and engagement through maneuver and fire (surface-to-air live firings).
In Romania, the exercise is connected to the DACIA 24 operative-tactical level multi-tasking training platform, which functions from May 13 to June 17. DACIA 24 aims to train the forces in conducting joint collective defence operations.
