Press Information
The Ministry of National Defence forces continued the search for possible drone fragments that fell on the Romanian bank of the Danube, as a result of the attacks conducted, over recent weeks, by Russian forces on some Ukrainian civilian targets and port infrastructure.
In this context, on Tuesday, September 24th, specialists from Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Romanian Intelligence Service investigated an area south of locality of Plauru, Tulcea County, where the existence of some drone fragments was reported. The area currently being searched is located outside the inhabited perimeter of Plauru, its infrastructure elements not being affected.
From the investigations carried out on the spot, it was established that the respective fragments are part of a Russian Geran-2 drone. They were removed to be examined by experts, according to the legal procedures in force.
The Ministry of National Defence reiterates the firm message of condemnation of these attacks conducted by the Russian Federation against certain Ukrainian civil infrastructure facilities and elements, which are unjustified and in serious contradiction with the international law norms.
