Warsaw Security Forum
State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, represented, on1-2 October, the Ministry of National Defence at the Warsaw Security Forum, one of the main European security conferences dedicated to transatlantic cooperation.
State Secretary Simona Cojocaru was invited to the panel "No Time to Lose - Preparing Europe for a Conventional War", alongside high-ranking representatives of the United States of America, France and Poland. The official also opened the panel discussions on the topic "Stormy Waters in the Black Sea: Geopolitical Challenges for the New European Commission", on which occasion she emphasized the vital role of the Black Sea within the European and Euro-Atlantic security architecture and addressed the Russian Federation’s actions in the region.
"The Black Sea region is the target of Russia's aggressive actions. Cyber attacks, disinformation and propaganda campaigns are frequent tactics by which Russia seeks to destabilize the European security architecture. Romania significantly contributes to the implementation of allied defence and deterrence measures," State Secretary Simona Cojocaru stated.
During the forum, Simona Cojocaru had bilateral meetings with her Polish and British counterparts. During the talks with Pawel Zalewski, her Polish counterpart, the officials insisted on the need to accelerate the implementation of measures to consolidate the defence and deterrence posture on NATO's eastern flank, from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.
The meeting with the British Minister of State for International Relations and Diplomacy, Lord Coaker, was an opportunity to discuss the importance of the strategic partnership with the United Kingdom, cooperation in the field of security and defence, and the support for Ukraine. Also, the officials addressed the challenges faced by the Republic of Moldova when confronted with Russia's hybrid actions, emphasizing the need for joint and consolidated support for the neighboring state.
