Drone strikes in Ukraine, on the Danube shore, nearby the border with Romania
The Russian forces resumed the series of drone strikes on civilian and port infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, on the morning of January 29th, near the border with Romania, in Tulcea County.
The monitoring and surveillance systems of the Ministry of National Defence have signaled certain drones evolving in the Ukrainian airspace, on a route approaching the border with Romania.
As a result of this situation, at around 3.20 am, two Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft conducting Air Policing Combat Service took off from the 86th Airbase in Borcea to monitor the air situation. The aircraft returned to the base two hours later.
At the same time, the National Military Command Center (core) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations regarding the establishment of measures to alert the population in Chilia Veche area. As a result, a RO-Alert message was sent at 3:05 a.m. and at 4:08 a.m. the cessation of the alert measures in the targeted area was declared.
From the data recorded by the radar, no penetrations of the monitored aerial targets into the national airspace were reported. MoND forces will conduct today research in areas where risks may arise as a result of these situations and will continue its airspace monitoring missions. Allied structures are also informed in real time with regard to the situations generated by the attacks.
The Ministry of National Defence firmly condemns these attacks conducted by the Russian Federation against certain facilities and elements of the Ukrainian civil infrastructure, which are unjustified and in serious contradiction with the of international law norms.
