Antalya Diplomacy Forum
State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, represented the Ministry of National Defence at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which took place over April 11-13, in the Republic of Turkey.
The forum brought together officials, diplomats and experts from all over the world, facilitating a substantial exchange of ideas and analyses on current security policy topics. The talks focused on the main challenges of the global security environment, with a particular emphasis on the role of diplomacy in managing current tensions and conflicts.
The security situation in the Black Sea region was the main topic of the debates, in a panel dedicated to Black Sea Security from the Perspective of Littoral Allies, being emphasized as a strategic area of major interest for the Euro-Atlantic stability.
As part of the forum, the Romanian official had a bilateral meeting with the High Representative of the international community for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, during which they discussed the importance of the Western Balkans region for European stability and security. The two officials reiterated the importance of EUFOR Althea Operation, as well as Romania's substantial role within it, our country taking over the force command in January, this year. The High Representative welcomed the professionalism of the Romanian soldiers present in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
