Defence Minister’s meeting with the representatives of GDELS-RO-UMB’s Association Coordination Board

On Tuesday, March 10, Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, had a meeting, at the MoND headquarters, with representatives of the Association Coordination Board between General Dynamics European Land Systems Romania and Bucharest Mechanical Plant. 

The talks focused on the analysis of the way the acquisition contract of 8x8 Piranha V Armored Personnel Carriers and derivatives, manufactured in Romania, is being carried out.

Minister of National Defence stressed the importance of cooperation with the national defense industry for the development of production capacities in our country and ensuring the necessary logistic support for the military equipment operated by the Romanian Armed Forces. "Collaboration is also essential for capitalizing on the opportunities for integrating the Romanian industry into the European initiatives intended to consolidate the industrial and technological defence base, including through the European Union's SAFE instrument," the minister added.

The meeting was part of the series of periodic consultations that the Ministry of National Defense leadership has with representatives of the defence industry and companies involved in the Romanian Armed Forces’ major procurement programs.
