On Wednesday afternoon, August 26, the Ministry of National Defence was notified of a fire on the bank of the Chilia branch, approximately 2 km upstream from the village of Plauru.

 

The area was secured, and the vegetation fire was extinguished by Ministry of Internal Affairs units in coordination with local authorities; a Border Police team maintained a perimeter watch overnight.

 

On Thursday morning, August 27, an EOD team from the Ministry of National Defence has deployed to the site to conduct an on-the-ground assessment.
