The Chief of Defence Staff, at the NATO Military Committee Conference in Copenhagen

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, is participating on September 18 and 19 in the NATO Military Committee Conference in Chiefs of Defence format, which takes place in Copenhagen, the Kingdom of Denmark.

The meeting, chaired by Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chair of the NATO Military Committee, brings together the chiefs of defence from the 32 Alliance member states. The Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alexus G. Grynkewich, and the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, Admiral Pierre Vandier, are also attending the sessions.

The meeting agenda focuses on implementing the decisions adopted at the NATO Summit in Ankara, with emphasis on strengthening the Alliance's deterrence and collective defence posture, developing and integrating new technologies, and continuing the support provided to Ukraine.

During the meeting, the chiefs of defence will analyze, from a military perspective, the developments in the security environment and the Alliance's priorities for adapting its defence posture to current and future threats. The discussions will also address NATO's operations, missions, exercises, and capability development.

The participation of the Chief of Defence Staff in the Copenhagen conference reflects Romania's contribution to the Allied military consultation and decision-making process, as well as to NATO's efforts to strengthen deterrence and defence across the entire Eastern Flank.
