Extraordinary Meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence

Minister of National Defence, Vasile Dîncu, will participate in the Extraordinary Meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence on Wednesday, March 16th, at NATO General Headquarters from Brussels.
The event, which is coordinated by NATO General Secretary, Jens Stoltenberg, in the context of the war initiated by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, is an important milestone in the decision-making process on NATO’s adaptation to the current security context, considering the upcoming Madrid Summit which is scheduled to take place over 29-30 June, this year.
The reunion agenda will consist of two main topics. Thus, the first session will be dedicated to the current security situation from Ukraine and its impact on the Alliance and the neighboring partners. This extraordinary meeting will also be attended by the Swedish, Finnish, Georgian and Ukrainian defence ministers as invitees and by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
The second session of the extraordinary meeting will consist of thorough debates on the long-term adaptation of NATO’s collective posture in order to meet the new security requirements from the Alliance border.
During the reunion, the minister of national defence, Vasile Dîncu, will have a bilateral meeting with his Canadian counterpart.
