Airspace monitoring mission at the border with Ukraine
On the night of September 1st to 2nd, around 11:00 p.m., the Ministry of National Defence radar surveillance systems detected an air attack of the Russian Federation on the Ukrainian port infrastructure, north of Chilia Branch of the Danube, Tulcea County.
Two Romanian F-16 fighter jets scrambled from the 86th Borcea Air Base for reconnaissance missions.
The Ro-Alert message was transmitted to the northern area of Tulcea County at 23:46, and around 00:20, two German Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft also scrambled from the 57th Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base.
No intrusions of any aerial vehicles into national airspace were detected.
The signal to end the air alert was transmitted at 00:50 and the aircraft returned safely to their deployment bases.
