The Chairman of the NATO Military Committee concluded his official visit to Romania
On Friday, May 8th, The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, and the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, visited the Multinational Corps South-East Headquarters (MNC-SE HQ) in Sibiu and the “Getica” National Joint Training Centre in Cincu.
In Sibiu, the two military leaders were briefed about the role of MNC-SE HQ in the planning and coordination of NATO operations on the Eastern Flank. They later met with students and teaching staff from the “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy, where they discussed topics related to military leadership, the armed force’s transformation process and the future of warfare.
The visit continued at the "Getica" National Joint Training Center in Cincu, where the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee witnessed demonstration sequences conducted by Romanian and allied military personnel of the NATO Battle Group Romania.
The activities included presentations on joint and multinational training, the integration of allied structures into NATO command and control systems, as well as live-fire sessions executed with CAESAR artillery systems and capabilities designed to combat aerial threats and unmanned systems.
"What we see today at Cincu represents exactly the direction towards NATO must evolve: prepared, interoperable forces capable of acting together in a complex operational environment. Romania is constantly investing in training, modernization of capabilities and in strengthening cooperation with its allies, and this is directly reflected in our soldiers’ training level," the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, said.
Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone's visit reconfirms Romania's strategic role on the Eastern Flank and the high level of cooperation between the Romanian Armed Force and NATO structures deployed on our national territory.
The Chairman of the NATO Military Committee visited Romania on May 7th and 8th, at the invitation of the Chief of Defence Staff.
